Day 9 - Business Plans

I must admit that I got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I read the title of the chapter today, "Business Plans". When it comes to writing something like a business plan, personal goals or the dreaded employee evaluation, I freeze up. I don't know if it is my "fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants" outlook or that I take one day at a time and just want to focus on today that makes me react that way. Yes, I have things I want to accomplish in life and in my photography business, but sitting and staring at a blank piece of paper or a computer screen and coming up with those ideas leaves me absolutely thoughtless; my mind goes absolutely blank. This causes so much angst that I get up and walk away only to be forced to deal with it later.

Fortunately for me, I know that God has a plan for my life.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:10-12

Recently, I have been thinking that I want to take my(HIS) photography business to the next level. In order to do so, I need an assistant. Of course, this caused near panic and I hesitated in taking action because I do not know where to begin to look for such a person. Do I post on Craigslist, put an ad in the local paper or post something on the bulletin board at the local art institute? How do I know if they will be dependable, it is my business and name that are on the line, not theirs. So, I took my request to God.

The Lord brought someone special into my via Christian Mingle. I was about to cancel my membership when I was contacted by someone whose profile I had viewed, liked what I saw, but his profile showed he wanted to date women younger that me. Well, he saw that I viewed his profile and checked my profile and liked what he saw. By our second "date", he was assisting me on a Valentine's Day dinner/dance. I was doing on-site printing and needed someone to take candid shots. He had no former training, but I set my camera, handed it to him and asked him to take some candid shots. He did a phenomenal job! We since have photographed another event and three weddings together. One of his photographs ended up being the cover shot for one couple's album; he was delighted and so was I. What a blessing this wonderful man is to me and to my business.

Now I do have a plan. To come along side my "assistant and begin to teach him what I know. He is reading some of the many photography books I have. I am excited about sharing my knowledge with him, just as others (and you know who you are) shared their knowledge with me.

Thank you, Lord, that You have a plan for my life. Help me to share what You have given me with others. You are an AWESOME and mighty God!

I love you, Lord
Pamela
