Outside of God's grace, guiding and leading, we can accomplish nothing of value. I am sure you are wondering about those who are wicked and unregenerate, yet they seem to possess worldly riches and success. I pity them. They are quick to point out that they did it all by themselves. That is not totally true. If they owned businesses, they had people working for them. Those people often performed the menial tasks that Boss-man or Boss-lady thought were beneath them, but were vital to the workings of their business.
At my full-time place of employment, we have support staff. They are the foundation of our business. Without them, our agency would fail. They do much of the behind-the-scenes work that allow our programs to run smoothly. I appreciate them so much. They make the administration's job much easier. I must confess that I enjoy being behind-the-scenes. I love database administration and can sit for hours in front of my computer screen tediously combing through the data to make sure everything is correct.
But when it comes to my business, I can't always be behind-the-scenes. I must allow GOD to position me where HE wants me. Sure, I can speak in front of a crowd...but "Do I have to, Lord??? I don't wanna!" I could teach a class...but "I don't wanna!" I could mentor a student interested in photography...but "I don't wanna!" I could go on and on about all the things I don't wanna do, but I don't want to walk in disobedience any longer.
Lord, forgive me, for not allowing YOU to direct my path. There are things you have put in me that I need to share with others and if I am not doing that, I am walking in sin. Lord, I lay down my pride. I lay down my fear for You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy1:7). How about this one...I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me (Phillipians 4:13). I am not the master of my universe, God, YOU are. I humbly submit myself to Your will for my life. I want to be led by Your Spirit and not my own.
When success comes, may I be humble enough to proclaim, "I did NOT do this on my own, but in the power of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
I love you, Lord
Pamela
